Calgary Zoo

Orange Frog’s relationship with the Wilder Institute Calgary Zoo dates back many years. The Calgary Zoo originally came to us looking for assistance in creating a new interactive activation for their Zoo Lights exhibit.

For the first year, we focused on their Prehistoric Park exhibit and created an interactive 10 minute walk through experience, complete with lights and music, that transported guests to the middle of the northern lights.

We designed this entire experience, including curating the music and creating a light show that moved in sync with the soundtrack.

We’ve continued to create interactive and immersive experiences, including The Bees exhibit, which celebrated the Wilder Institute’s bee conservation efforts in Africa through light and sound. For this experience, we created a display using hexagon lights to represent bee cells and allowed guests to interact with these hexagon bees by tapping on various drums to change the lights. Another great collaboration came through the celebration of the gorilla family in a Calgary Zoo first – the Zoo opened up the amphitheatre in the winter so guests could take a seat and learn about the gorillas. Orange Frog was able to turn the amphitheatre into a little slice of Africa through the use of gobos and other imagery.

As Orange Frog continues to foster our relationship with the Wilder Institute Calgary Zoo, we prioritize sitting down with this client to brainstorm new ideas to elevate the guest experience in creative ways. We love bringing our expertise in interactive displays to put unconventional experiences in unexpected places.
