Today we will talk about why you need lighting for your event. Light is powerful. From humankind’s earliest days we recognized, and at times even revered, the sun, moon and stars. The sun was the giver of life, the moon the watcher of darkness. Our need for light was so great, an entire industry was born around hunting the largest creatures on earth – whales – in part so we could harvest their oil to light lamps. Then electricity arrived, and the world was never the same.

Once we settled into our era of fast and affordable access to light, we switched from using light as a tool of survival and started to apply it to other aspects of life, namely, entertainment. Light shows, Fremont Street, lighting up monuments for events and causes – light became a way to showcase the things we loved the most, to be moved, and to add a layer of emotion or excitement to the places and events we look forward to.

Here at Orange Frog Productions, we understand the impact light can have in your daily life, and especially at your events. That is why we are passionate about lighting up your most memorable moments with lighting that has been completely customized to you and your event. From weddings to concerts, product launches to live performances, whatever your event, Orange Frog Productions will exceed your expectations. We will customize lighting so you and your guests will have that awe-inspiring, unforgettable “wow” experience you deserve.

How, you ask, can humble lighting achieve this?

Lighting to Set a Mood

There is a reason why lights are a little dimmer and softer in romantic restaurants. There is also a reason why the most tender movie scenes don’t take place under an interrogation light. Light sets a mood, and we use this fact to create the mood needed for your event.

Here’s another example: a rock concert. When you go to see your favourite band and look forward to the lead guitarist shredding, the lead vocalist belting out the lyrics, and the crowd going wild, would it be the same if it all happened under a soft yellow light? No! You want brightly coloured, pulsing, moving light that is as much a part of the show as the performers on stage.

At a wedding, however, the last thing you need is a laser light show as the bride walks down the aisle to the tender strains of Canon in D (Unless that’s your thing. Go for it. We don’t judge.)

Then there is the magic and wonder that is Cirque du Soleil. If you have never seen a Cirque show, take a minute to check them out online. Cirque shows are absolutely legendary, not just because of the world-class acrobats, musicians, and performers, but also because of how the shows make the audience feel. It’s not uncommon to have the audience laughing one moment and moved to tears the next. Lighting for each moment of the performance is a vital component of drawing out this emotional response. The world-famous Cirque relies on the best behind-the-scenes technicians to help bring their shows to life, and Orange Frog Productions couldn’t be happier to count Cirque du Soleil as one of our satisfied clients.

Lighting to Inspire Sales

Product launches are exciting! The entrepreneur or corporation has worked long and hard on the product and can’t wait for it to have a positive impact on people’s lives. It gets a lot less exciting if that product is showcased in a cavernous hall under fluorescent office lighting.

This is where Orange Frog Productions comes in. For product launches we can do anything from placing your product in the most flattering light (literally!) or creating an exciting light show that makes your product’s debut resonate and engage with the audience.

Take, for instance, the launch of a new car model. When a new car is debuting at a car show alongside many other competing makes and models, it pays to use lighting effects to make that car stand out. Car shows are busy, packed, and filled with people whose attention is attracted to the best displays. We have been very fortunate to work with Jaguar, GM and Bentley, helping their cars get noticed and their product launches succeed at car shows and other events.

Lighting for Remembrance and Commemoration

Funeral service has changed rapidly over the past few years. Today, celebrations of life are replacing traditional services, ensuring that the passed loved one is remembered in ways that are more personalised to the way he or she lived. This means, instead of a service in a chapel, remembrances and celebrations are held in hotel ballrooms, on golf courses, and in a-typical venues (barns, airplane hangars, restaurants) and more. In the place of a body in these public venues, the family often opts to displace items that were important to their loved one.

Orange Frog Productions would be honoured to help spotlight the remembrances your family chooses to display, and to create the atmosphere of the celebration of life you desire. For example, we can thoughtfully display and light up mementos, or provide lighting in an a-typical venue that is traditionally not well-lit (such as a barn or an open field). Be it a final party send off or a quiet, solemn occasion, we can respectfully and with dignity be a part of the way you choose to honour the passing.
